Spice Racks
Spice racks are an important addition to any kitechen that is intended to be used for cooking real food that includes the use of spices. Spices form an integral part of any interesting food because lets face it, food cooked without any herbs and spices cane be terribly bland and lacking character.
So we use spices to literally spice up a dish! As there are so many spices to choose from that are used is such a variety of exotic and not so exotic dishes from around the world and most kitchens contain at least some spices, it makes sense to store them all in their individual spice bottles in a dedicated spice rack.
Spice racks come in many shapes and sizes, but the most common ones are the standard size built to take the standard small spice bottles that are produced by companies such as "Schwartz". There are of course some custom built spice racks for spice bottles of different sizes and these can be obtained by searching through the various online stores and real world shops, markets, bazaars and the like.
The majority of spice racks are built in wood, and most often that is pine,although some darker woods are used as well. That's because a pine rack looks functional and also a little rustic which adds a certain character to any kitchen. If you look hard, you might be lucky and come across a wrought iron designed spice rack which also looks rustic and a little antique. However, for a more modern look, there are also spice racks made in chrome, aluminium or polished stainless steel wire framed racks.
